Sony Announces the HX80, a New Camera that Sony is Calling the "World's Smallest Camera with a 30x Optical Zoom Lens"

Today, Sony announced the new DSC-HX80, a compact digital camera with the latest processing technology needed for high-quality image and video capture, combined with a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* optical zoom lens with 30x Optical Zoom ability and 5 Axis Optical Image Stabilization. This new camera is also using the latest advancements in processors to allow a higher quality 60x "Clear Image" digital zoom capability. Sony is referring to this new model as the "world's smallest camera with a 30x Optical Zoom lens".

The new Sony HX80 also sports a tilt up OLED EVF (Electronic View Finder) for greater flexibility in more conditions, and in addition, this camera gives users a view of images and video being captured with its 921K dot, 3" LCD screen that tilts a full 180 degrees.

This new camera can take 18.2-megapixel still photos using a new Exmor R CMOS sensor design with a BIONZ X processor to ensure more details, and it can also capture full HD video in virtually all lighting conditions, using a high-speed XAVC S Codec that encodes video at a very high-quality 50 Megabits per second bit rate.

Of course the new Sony HX80 also incorporates the latest wireless and NFC features for sharing data with other devices.

The new Sony HX80 Compact Camera should be available next month in April 2016 for approximately $350.
