Sony Announces New Compact Radio-Controlled Flash: HVL-F45RM

HVL-F45RM.pngSony dropped the new HVL-F45RM radio-controlled flash unit today for their E-mount camera systems. Unlike the optically-controlled flashes of yesterday, radio-controlled models don't need line-of-sight to function, which make them extremely versatile in complex shoots (odd-shaped environments, multiple flashes, etc.).

The HVL-F45RM is also capable of operating at up to 30m (98ft) away from the camera body as a transmitter OR a receiver. With a battery life of up to 210 bursts, this radio flash tilts up 150-degrees or down 85 degrees vertically, and can swivel horizontally a complete 360-degrees. Lastly, this flash boasts a revamped menu design that more in line with the E-mount menu system.
