Sony Adds Three New Alpha Lenses, Including Two Affordable Primes

First we have the Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm F2.0 SSM (SAL24F20Z), which is a large aperture, wide angle lens that uses Carl's Distagon lens design. This unit also boasts Sony's Internal Super Sonic wave motor (SSM), fast F2.0 maximum aperture, nine-blade circular aperture, and a 24mm field of view on full frame models (like the A850), or 36mm equivalent on APS-C cameras. This new lens will be available this fall (October) for a retail price of $1249.99 US.

Next we have the DT 35mm F1.8 SAM (SAL35F18). This is a very affordable prime lens, designed for specifically for use on APS-C Alpha cameras with a 35mm equivalent view of 50mm. This is perfect for portraits and other snap shots, and thanks to its fast F1.8 maximum aperture, this unit will perform well in low-light conditions. The SAL35F18 will also become available in October, with a suggested price of $199.99 US.

Rounding out this announcement is the DT 85mm F2.8 SAM (SAL85F28). Designed for their full frame cameras, this unit offers an 85mm field of view, which is excellent for portrait photography. With a fast F2.8 aperture, you'll have great success in lower lighting and also be able to create pleasing bokeh effects. The SAL85F28 uses Sony's Smooth autofocus motor (SAM), and will start shipping this coming October for $249.99 US.
