Sigma Announces a 17-50mm F2.8 Lens Utilizing FLD Glass
Sigma's newest lens is a large aperture standard zoom lens designed for use with small chip cameras. It uses Sigma's own Optical Stabilization technology and new FLD glass.
It's got a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches throughout the entire range, and it covers the focal length from a 17mm wide angle.
The FLD glass used in the lens is fairly new, and ensures performance equal to that of fluorite glass. It's also got a low refractive index and low dispersion when compared to typical optical glass. That's a good thing.
You can pick up the latest lens from Sigma for a Canon mount at an MSRP of $980. In the next few weeks you'll find it in Nikon, Sigma, Sony and Pentax mounts.
