If you've been waiting for Sigma's new macro lens, you'll be happy to know that the wait is almost over.  The followup to the highly rated 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC Macro HSM is on its way to Sony cameras at the end of the month.

On February 27th, Sony owners will have access to Sigma's latest creation.   The Sigma 17-70mm F2.8- 4 DC Macro OS HSM sports an added optical stabilizer and a faster speed when compared to the predecessor.

The new lens offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7, which makes it excellent for close shots.  It's got a minimum focusing distance of 22cm and is able to shoot as close as 4.7cm, or just under two inches.

Pentax owners will also get the benefit of the new lens when it is released for Pentax bodies on March 19th.
