Sigma Announces DP2, SD15, Lenses and Macro Flash

Sigma Corporation has announced two new cameras, the DP2 digital rangefinder and SD15 digital SLR, EX 24-70mm wideangle zoom lens, 50mm f/1.4 prime for Four Thirds System, Fisheye lenses and a Macro Flash for Pentax and Sony, So far we have little news on these products, there are links for each on Sigma's website.

DP2 major features:

  • The image sensor is 20.7mm x 13.8mm, approximately seven to twelve times larger than the 1/1.8inch to 1/2.5inch image sensors used in ordinary compact digital cameras.
  • 14 megapixel (2,652×1,768×3 layers) Foveon X3 direct image sensor same as that used in the SD14 and DP1.
  • "TRUE II" image processing engine, (Three-layer Responsive Ultimate Engine), the world's first image processing engine suited for the three silicon embedded layer direct image sensor.
  • 24.2mm F2.8 lens, equivalent to 41mm on a 35mm SLR camera.
  • Large 2.5" TFT Color LCD Monitor.
SD15 major features:
  • 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct-image-sensor.
  • “TRUE II” new image processing engine.
  • Large 3.0 inch LCD monitor.
