Shooting Through a Sandstorm
Photographers and videographers may be a bit different, but in the long run they're really cut from similar cloths. They capture moments in time, convey emotion, and sometimes put themselves at risk to bring us something we've never seen before.
Bob Poole is a cameraman for the upcoming show 'Great Migrations,' which will run on the Discovery Channel this November. While searching for a herd of elephants, Bob got caught in one of Africa's enormous dust storms.
Rather than attempt to run from it, Bob just shot straight through it, providing us with some absolutely surreal footage. The storm approaches and then covers the cameraman and crew, burying them in total blackness, but that's not the strangest part. Once the storm begins to lighten, everything turns red - it's as if the crew was shooting on Mars.
