SCM Introduces High-Speed Microtech 512MB CompactFlash Card

New York, NY - June 26, 2001 - SCM Microsystems Retail Brands Group, a leading provider of solutions that open the Digital World, today announced a new high-performance 512MB CompactFlash card. The Type I form factor card offers 512MB of capacity allowing users of digital cameras, MP3 player, Pocket PCs and other digital devices to store hundreds of digital images, music and data at the highest speed and quality possible. The new CompactFlash card is available immediately.

Based on a 1Gb NAND flash architecture, the 512MB CompactFlash card achieves a sustained write speed of up to 3.2 megabytes per second and a sustained read speed of up to 5.4MB per second.

Microtech CompactFlash cards are certified by the CompactFlash Association (CFA), and work in all CF applications and devices. By combining the CF Card with Microtech's optional CF to ATA Type II adapter it will also work in any PC Card (PCMCIA) ATA type II or III slot. Microtech offers CompactFlash Digital FlashFilm in capacities ranging from 8MB to 512MB.

SCM Microsystems Launches Microtech SnapSHOT Intelligent Cable

New York, NY - June 26, 2001 - SCM Microsystems today announced its latest addition to the popular Microtech CameraMate family, the SnapSHOT Intelligent Cable. The new SnapSHOT Intelligent Cable is a perfect solution for quickly and easily transferring data between a PC or Mac and any digital device with the appropriate removable digital media. In addition, the CompactFlash and Secure Digital / MultiMedia versions of SnapSHOT are Mass Storage Device (MSD) Compliant, meaning that they do not require the installation of driver software. Consumers can simply plug the device into the USB port of a PC or Mac using a modem operating system and be ready to instantaneously download digital images or data by dragging and dropping the contents to any folder.

The unique design is based on SCM's proprietary EUSB-02 ASIC which provides the intelligence for reading and writing most popular media types. Unlike competitive products, the SnapSHOT? Intelligent Cable is compatible with virtually all brands of media, and outperforms products in its class.
