Samsung NX1 v1.30 Firmware adds Numerous Enhancements

Samsung_NX1_front_angled_mid.jpgSamsung has released Firmware Version 1.30 for the NX1, adding numerous enhancements and 19 minor bug fixes.
As we noted in our Samsung NX1 Review, this camera excels at Autofocus, thanks in part to a Hybrid AF System with 205 phase detect points covering 90 percent of the frame.
Now, Samsung is making Autofocus even better, thanks to these improvements found in Firmware Version 1.30:
  • Enhanced AF performance in low light condition
  • Enhanced AF performance in backlight and spot light
  • Enhanced AF performance in the corners when utilizing 16-50mm PZ lens
  • Enhanced Face Detection AF performance
  • Enhanced AF performance in movie mode
  • Added Zone AF mode
  • Increased the size of AF to 5 steps in AF Area Size
In addition to the Autofocus improvements, this new Firmware also allows Bulb Mode with no time limitation, and increase Time Lapse to 3000 shots. It also simplifies the Exif data preview and includes 4 "Pro suggest" presets (Cinematic, Memories, Gorgeous Night, and High Speed),
Samsung also added improvements to video:
  • Larger data size reads from the sensor improving FHD quality at up to 60P.
  • Rec Run option added
  • 1920x1080 (120) setting in the Movie Size Menu for easy access
  • Auto Mic Control On/Off
  • Histogram and Digital Level are displayed during standby / recording mode
  • Capture individual 4K frame forward &backward with precision
Lastly, Samsung introduced their new Samsung Remote Studio Software that allows full control of the NX1 via USB with this new Firmware update applied. They've also improved video transfer via WiFi, and added Tizen OS TV compatiblity for use with Samsung's latest TV models. In addition, this new Firmware corrects 19 minor issues.
