Samsung Expands Galaxy Series of Smartphones & Tablets

Samsung announced three new Galaxy series products today, expanding its flagship Galaxy Note smartphone series with the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge, and adding a new Galaxy Tab Active tablet device aimed at business customers.

Let's go ahead and look at each one individually:

Galaxy Note 4

The new flagship smartphone boasts a vivid, high resolution 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560x1440) Super AMOLED display capable of a millionth of a second response times as well as a Multi Window features designed to maximize user experience. We're talking about full, split, or pop-up screen configurations

Samsung smartphone cameras are among the best on the market and it looks like the Galaxy 4 will continue this trend with a 16MP rear-facing camera with Smart Optical Image Stabilizer, and a 3.7MP front-facing camera with an f1.9 aperture and a 90-120 degree shooting angle for wide angle group shots.
Other "enhanced essential features" includes Fast Charge, Ultra Power Saving Mode, multiple microphones, improved speaker phone, built-in Voice Recorder, and an improved Fingerprint Scanner.

No Samsung Galaxy smartphone is complete without its "S Pen", which acts as a pen for writing, a brush for painting, or any number of special feature functions like Air Command, Action Memo, Screen Write, Image Clip, and Smart Selection. The new Galaxy Note 4 also offers users "multiple, seamless not-taking methods integrated into Samsung's S Note application that allows everyday tasks to get done faster and more easily." You can type. You can write. You can even take a picture of notes written down on paper or across a classroom board.
Galaxy Note Edge

The Galaxy Note Edge offers all the same performance and camera features as the Galaxy Four, but trades the 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED for a curved 5.6-inch version of the very same display. So, basically, you'll need to decide if you want your screen flat and one-tenth of an inch larger, or curved and every-so-slightly smaller. Samsung reports that the Edge's "unique curved Edge screen provides quick access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality - even when the cover is closed - all with the swipe of a thumb."

Galaxy Tab Active

Lastly, we have a new Samsung tablet. The company's first business tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active was designed after a series of workshops with Fortune 500 companies to make sure this new device improves productivity for professionals in all sorts of different work environments.

The Galaxy Tab is slim and light, yet sturdy enough to survive a 1.2-meter drop (with its protective cover on). It is also water and dust resistant, with the ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures.

The Galaxy Tab features a 3.1MP Auto Focus Camera for barcode scanning, NFC technology for easy connection to compatible devices, a "C-Pen" in every cover so you don't always have to use your fingers (great for those wearing gloves, etc), a 10-hour detachable battery for long days outside of the office (with the ability to swap in fresh batteries in seconds, and a standard three year Mobile Care Service warranty.

Worried about security? Samsung protects the Galaxy Tab Active with "Samsung KNOX", a defense-grade reinforced security solution.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available in "Charcoal Black," "Frost White," "Bronze Gold," and "Blossom Pink" starting in October (2014). The standard 32GB flash storage can be augmented by MicroSD (up to 64GB).

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will be available in "Charcoal Black" and "Frost White" later this year. It will be available with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, with the ability to add up to 64GB of MicroSD storage.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active will be available in Wi-Fi only, or Wi-Fi + LTE configurations. The 16GB of internal storage can be augmented with a MicroSD card (up to 64GB). The "Titanium Green" tablet comes with a Protective Cover and C-Pen. A release date has not been announced.
