Samsung adds five new SMART CamerasSamsung has just rolled out five new SMART Cameras at CES 2014. The list includes the WB35F, WB50F, WB350F, WB1100F, and the WB2200F.
The first three models focus on compact size, yet they still offer a generous zoom ranges and 16-megapixels of resolution. Looking at the WB35F and WB50F, we see almost identical specifications. Both offer 16.2-megapixels via a CCD image sensor, a 12x optical zoom lens, built-in Wi-Fi with NFC tech, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), and 720p HD video recording. The WB50F (pictured above) offers a larger 3.0-inch display (versus the WB35F's 2.7-inch), and the flash is located directly above the lens; instead of being off to the side. Both models are available in several colors.
The WB350F takes it up a notch by using a higher quality 16.3-megapixel BSI CMOS image sensor, offering Full HD video at 1080/30p, a 21x optical zoom lens, and a 3.0-inch Hybrid touch screen. Even with these upgrades, the WB350F still measures just 0.98-inches thick when powered down. This one is available in five colors (Black, Blue, Brown, Red, and White).
Next up is the WB1100F. This looks to be an affordable super-zoom (aka bridge) camera that offers a versatile 35x optical zoom lens, a 16.2-megapixel CCD image sensor, Dual IS stabilization system (OIS + DIS), a 3.0-inch LCD, 720p HD video recording, and of course built-in Wi-Fi with NFC.
Last, but not least, we have the WB2200F. This is the most interesting looking model of the bunch, with it's DSLR + grip look and feel. The "dual-grip" design lends to the cameras versatility in framing, offering not only a better grip for vertical or portrait style shooting, but also secondary controls (shutter release, zoom control, and control dial). Samsung has also managed to stuff a 60x optical zoom lens inside the WB2200F, with a fast f/2.8 - 5.9 maximum aperture range. This bright lens, combined with the camera's 16.3-megapixel BSI CMOS image sensor (1/2.3") and Optical Image Stabilization, should afford the ability to shoot clearer images at the telephoto extremes; and in low-light. Like all of their new SMART camera offerings, this unit also includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC technology. Samsung also claims the WB2200F has long battery life (no spec given) thanks to its BP-1410 Li-ion battery pack.
