Presidential Speeches Will Now Feature a Single Photographer

Presidential-photog.jpg

All those pictures you see of President Obama giving the speech about the death of Bin Laden - it turns out they're not real. Well, strictly speaking they are indeed pictures of the president giving that speech. They weren't taken during the speech though.

There's a little known practice that's been in use for years now at the White House. When the president gives a big speech, he's in the room without any photographers present. He then recreates the speech afterwards to allow photographers to get their shots.

Obama is switching things up a bit. Instead of banning photographers completely, he's allowing a single photographer chosen by news organizations. This allows actual live photos without the distraction of hundreds of cameras going off at once.
