Pioneer is Entering the Digital Camera Market

Those familiar with home theater equipment know that Pioneer components - especially those from the Elite line - tend to be among the most desired pieces of gear out there. They're also well loved for their now extinct Kuro line of plasma televisions - crystal clear images are nothing new for Pioneer.

What is new is Pioneer's upcoming entry to the digital camera market. They've entered into a venture with Asia Optical Group that allows them to establish a production facility in Brazil. The company will focus on quality while attempting to keep costs nice and low.

An agreement with Samsung will help to get these cameras into the Chinese marketplace. There, Pioneer hopes to rake in over $100 million by 2015 while selling 500,000 cameras. That puts the average sale price at right around $200.
