Photographer Saved by Camera Flash

An amateur photographer - 29 year old Zhang Ke - was hiking in the woods at Devil's Lake State Park this week when he realized he had stayed too long. Darkness fell and the snow-covered trail became difficult to follow.

Ke ended up wandering off the trail and falling 15 feet below the trail into a field of boulders. He called for assistance, but because he was lost before he fell, he was unable to pinpoint his location.

Zhang Ke spent two hours on the phone with rescuers who finally found him thanks to some quick thinking. Rather than just wait, Ke shot off his camera, allowing those searching for him to track him down.

Ke wasn't seriously injured by the fall, but he did develop hypothermia.
