Pentax Introduces Compact Digital Camera

Pentax EI-200

PENTAX Corp., Englewood, Colo., USA, is introducing a new compact digital camera. The EI-200 is a 2.11 megapixel compact digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens, a range of 5.2mm to 16.5mm and a large aperture of f/2.4 to f/4. The camera offers up to 1,600-by-1,200 pixel resolution. The EI-200 also offers a choice of exposure modes, metering modes, automated and manual settings, and a selection of different kinds of white balance to achieve optimum results. Other features include a built- in TTL auto zoom flash, slow shutter sync and red-eye correction. A built-in microphone allows the user to record up to 45 seconds of sound with each image. Standard accessories include an 8Mb CompactFlash Card, Adobe Photoshop LE software, USB driver for Windows 98, video cable and a USB cable.

This is a joint venture between Pentax and H-P who is also selling the same camera as the PhotoSmart C618. Pentax and H-P will also be co-branding another camera, the PhotoSmart C912 which is a 2-megapixel SLR aimed at the prosumer market. HP C912
