Pentax Confirms Digital MF and Flagship DSLR Due Later in 2006

According to an article in the British Journal of Photography Pentax has confirmed that it will launch a series of new high-end digital cameras later in 2006. They are going ahead with a medium format digital camera based on the Pentax 645 with a 22-megapixel sensor -- working samples should be ready for Photokina in September and for sale by the PMA 2007 trade show.

Pentax has also said that they would be introducing a number of new digital SLRs, including a flagship model along with a range of new digital lenses during the next year and a half. The new DSLRs will be an addition to the current 6MP models and a high-end model capable of standing up to the daily use of a professional user. Producing more new digital lenses is a high priority.
