PC Magazine "Editor's Choice" Awards - Digital Cameras
The January 1999 issue of PC Magazine featured a large and in-depth article on 20 popular, sub- digital cameras called "Closing the Gap." Their Editor's Choice results for the following three categories are:
Business - Sony Mavica FD-81
"It's real selling point is convenient floppy disk storage... the drawback is image quality: Sony's aggressive compression algorithms to enable floppy disk storage degrade the images somewhat."
Semipro - Nikon Coolpix 900s
"For higher-end users who need uncomprimising image quality our Editor's Choice is the Nikon Coolpix 900s. Pictures were sharp, with accurate, well-balanced colors. Our jury placed the Coolpix's images first for both printed output and Web display."
Home - HP PhotoSmart C30
"For budget-concious home users looking to get started in digital photography our Editor's Choice is the HP PhotoSmart C30. It's easy to use, and it delivers above-average image quality at a very attractive price."
