Panasonic Details New LUMIX G95 Mirrorless Camera & LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm Lens

Panasonic has revealed the latest additions to its LUMIX series of cameras and lenses. The lineup includes the LUMIX G95 Mirrorless Camera and the LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm Lens.

Featuring a rugged and splash/dust-resistant design, the LUMIX G95 is a digital single lens mirrorless camera geared toward mobility and handheld field use. The device features a 20.3-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor without low-pass filter and uses the Venus Engine to produce natural, clear images with support for a max ISO 25600. In addition, the unit incorporates 5-axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabilizer) 2 to reduce blurring through the combination of the system's O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) and B.I.S. (Body Image Stabilizer, 5-axis). Meanwhile, a Contrast AF System with DFD (Depth From Defocus) tech is integrated as well, offering an auto-focusing speed of about 0.07 seconds. Other AF options include Face/Eye Detection AF, Pinpoint AF, One-shot AF, and advanced Low Light AF enhance.

And when it comes to video, the G95 includes support for 4K recording in 3840x2160 at 30p or 24p in MP4, along with real-time image output via HDMI. High Speed Video capabilities are also provided for slow motion video in Full HD at 120 fps (1/4x), 90 fps (1/3x) and 60 fps (1/2x). Finally, the camera includes an OLED LVF (Live View Finder) with 2360K-dot high resolution and a free-angle 3.0-inch LCD rear touch control monitor with approximately 1240K-dot resolution.

The Panasonic LUMIX G95 Mirrorless Camera will be available in May for an MSRP of $1199.99

And beyond the new camera, Panasonic also detailed an updated version of its LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm / F3.5-5.6 II ASPH. / POWER O.I.S Lens. The wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens is based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard and features a splash/dust-resistant design. The optical construction uses 14 elements in 12 groups with three aspherical lenses and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration.

In addition, the lens offers a POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), making it easier to capture super clear shots even in low-lit environments. Likewise, the unit features an inner focus drive system and stepping motor for smooth and quiet AF performance during video recording. Finally, the lens offers a pleasing bokeh effect thanks to its seven blade aperture.

The Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm Lens is set to start shipping in May for $599.99.
