Panasonic has announced a new ultra-telephoto for the market that will cost $3,000 and be available in January of 2018. The LEICA DG ELMARIT 200mm F2.8 POWER O.I.S. (H-ES200) boasts a 400mm equivalent field of view and F5.6 equivalent maximum aperture. Thanks to the built-in Power O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) that ALSO works with Panasonic Dual I.S. and Dual I.S. 2.0 camera systems, you'll be able to handhold this lens while panning and tracking moving objects, making it perfect for wildlife photography (and a faster, albeit less ultra, option for anyone considering the Olympus 300mm F4).

Dust-proof, splash-proof, and freeze-proof down to 14°F (-10°C), this rugged, glossy-black lens is comprised of 15 elements in 13 groups, including two Ultra Extra-low Dispersion elements to help cut down on distortion and chromatic aberration.

Designed for still image shooting and 4K video recording in mind, Panasonic has included the following features: "Incorporating a triple linear motor system and max.240 fps sensor drive, the new LEICA DG ELMARIT 200mm / F2.8 / POWER O.I.S. achieves high-speed, high-precision contrast AF system for both photo and video recording. This stunning AF performance is excellent to record 4K video, where precise focusing is required. In addition, the micro-step drive system in the aperture control section helps the camera smoothly catch up to brightness changes when panning."

The new 200mm F2.8 can also be used with the 2.0x DMW-TC20 Teleconverter, giving you an 800mm equivalent lens. Now THAT'S ultra-telephoto.
