Olympus Updates Firmware On the XZ-1

Olympus has just announced a new firmware update for their powerful
XZ-1 digital camera. According to Olympus, Version 1.2 adds, "picture orientation: Horizontal/Vertical, to the camera
menu. The camera will record which way the image was oriented when
captured, so in playback, the orientation of
an image can be rotated by using the control ring. The desired
orientation is then saved in the Exif portion of the image file.
Photographers can choose to turn this function on or leave it off."
To update your
XZ-1 camera, all you have to do is launch the included Olympus [ib]
software, then connect your camera to your PC using the included USB cable; internet connectivity is required. Once you've done this, simply choose the "Update" function from the Olympus [ib] software's camera menu and the update will be automatically applied to the XZ-1.
