Earlier this fall we detailed the new firmware updates Olympus was planning for its OM-D series of Micro Four Thirds cameras. The upgrades were significant enough for Olympus to brand the release as "downloading your next camera." We've just gotten word that the OM-D EM-5 Mark II Version 2.0 Firmware is getting a slight revision.

Dubbed Version 2.1, the new firmware solves the following issues that appeared in Version 2.0:

  • When recording movies using the Olympus Capture version 1.1, the Touch AF display on the Olympus Capture cannot be cancelled.
  • When an electronic zoom lens is in use, the zoom does not automatically adjust to the wide-angle position even if the monitor is tilted to the self-portrait position.

Worth noting: When making the jump from firmware Version 1.0 to 2.1, your camera settings will be reset. However, if you already have Version 2.0, your camera settings will be maintained.
