Olympus and Vail Film Festival Launch 48-hour Film Contest

olympus_e-pl2_blk_550.jpgThe folks at Olympus have teamed with the Vail Film Festival to launch a unique new film contest. It's called the Olympus PEN Your Short 48 Hour Film Contest and it's just what it sounds like. Filmmakers will have 48 hours to make a short film.

Each team will be supplied with an Olympus PEN camera for the duration of the shoot along with lenses and accessories to go with it. The winning team will nab $5,000, an Olympus PEN interchangeable lens camera kit, passes to the 2012 Vail Film Festival and a meet-and-greet with a yet to be named Hollywood producer.

Feature films take months and even years to make. Even the indie movie 'Clerks' took three weeks, and it didn't feature digital effects or anything close to fancy camera work. Asking filmmakers to produce something in such a short amount of time is a challenge to be sure.

The contest officially starts on March 1st, 2011. If you'd like to find out more or register yourself for the competition, visit the Vail Film Festival contest site.
