Olympus America Appoints Nacho Abia as President

Olympus has just named a new president for Olympus Imaging America. His name is Nach Abia and he brings 11 years of experience to the table, as well as a Telecommunications Engineering degree from Universidad Politecnica de Cataluyna and an MBA from Barcelona Business Administration School.

"Nacho has demonstrated leadership and outstanding performance within the European region and has a unique understanding of Olympus' global business strategies," says Olympus Corporation of the Americas CEO Mark Gumz. "His connection to our company's culture and his natural leadership skills made him a strong and obvious choice for this significant leadership position."

Abia says that he's honored to receive the appointment. "Through this expanded role, and together with the leadership team and Olympus employees, I look forward to contributing to the success of the company by building on its core strengths to develop innovative products for consumers."

The appointment is effective as of April 1st. In addition to his role as company president, Abia serves as a board member for Olympus Japan and Olympus Espania.
