Olympus Announces New 2009 Digicam Lineup

Olympus has added several models to just about every consumer category they have to offer. New models include:

• SP-590 UZ: This "Ultra-Zoom" model features an amazing 26x optical zoom lens, a 12-megapixel image sensor, Dual Image Stabilization, Face Detection, Ultra High-Speed Sequential shooting and a bright 2.7-inch LCD.

• New FE Family: The FE-3000, FE-3010, and FE-5010 are three budget based ultra-compacts that offer powerful options and features, while still being easy on your wallet/pocketbook.

• Stylus Tough 6000 and 8000: This duo replace the "SP" series from last year, and still offer all of the same shockproof, waterproof, freezeproof, crushproof and shakeproof "Toughness" we've come to expect from these models.

• Stylus 7000 and 9000: While these ultra-compact powerhouses are not to be confused with their waterproof and weatherproof siblings, they do offer super-zoom like coverage with 7x and 10x optical zoom lenses.

• Stylus 550WP:Last, but not least, the 550WP is the first "WP" (WaterProof) labeled model we have seen from Olympus. This inexpensive compact camera can be submerged up to 10 feet, and offers 10-megapixels of resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD, Face Detection technology and more.
