Nikon Unveils the D3S Professional dSLR
Nikon has just announced the D3S, their latest professional series digital SLR. Building on the legendary D3, Nikon has added a newly designed FX-format 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor that offers amazing low-light ability with expanded ISO equivalent settings of up to 102,400! These powerful low-light capabilities can also be applied when using the camera's 720P HD video option, turning the D3S into a powerful multi-media tool. They've also enhanced the burst capabilities of this model, with a new DX crop mode that allows the D3S to achieve up to 11fps! The camera also still continues to offer 9fps when using the FX-format/full resolution setting.
The Nikon D3S is scheduled to hit authorized dealer's shelves by late November (2009) with an estimated
selling price of US$5,199.95.

Along side the D3S announcement, Nikon also released a new DX-format lens, the AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR. This new medium telephoto lens is designed specifically for extreme close-up photography, with focusing as close as 0.9 ft. from the lens. When combined with a DX-format dSLR, like the Nikon D90 or D300, the lens offers an equivalent focal view of approximately 127.5mm (in the 35mm or FX-format), which is also appealing for close-up portrait photography. This new lens also boasts Nikon's silent wave motor (SWM) technology, extra low dispersion (ED) glass, and their VR optical image stabilization.

Available in early December, the AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR will have a sticker price of approx. $529.95. To learn more, please read the official Nikon press release.
