Nikon Releases New AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8 Portrait Lens

Alongside the announcement of the Nikon D4, Nikon has has launched an appealing new prime lens aimed at those who enjoy capturing portrait type photos. Officially named the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G, this lens was created specifically for FX-format Nikon dSLRS like the new D4 (full frame), and thanks to its wide open aperture and mid-telephoto focal range, this lens is sure to create some stunning portraits with wonderful bokeh.  

Nikon also claims that along with producing "amazing clarity", the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G is also lightweight and affordable. Mounted to your DX-format Nikon dSLR, the lens offers a field of view equivalent to approx. 127mm, which still quite usable for close up portraits and macro shots.

Look for the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G to hit stores sometime in March, 2012. The MSRP is a surprising $499.95 USD, making it an obtainable option for many photogs.
