Nikon Introduces New ME-1 Stereo Microphone Unit for dSLRs

Alongside their D5100 announcement, Nikon has released information about a new optional external stereo microphone, the ME-1. This unit was designed specifically for use with their D-series cameras, however they claim any camera with a 3.5mm mic jack can use the ME-1. The unit boasts stereo recording with sound dampening technology to cut down on AF noise, a low-cut filter, an included wind screen, and a cable stop to help keep things tidy.

The new ME-1 microphone is scheduled to start shipping something this month (April, 2011), with a suggested retail price of $179.95 US.
