Nikon Introduces New DX-Format dSLR: the D7000

From looking at the its feature list, this looks to be one impressive camera, which is seated nicely between their D90 and D300/D300s models. While positioned mid-line, the D7000 boasts some features and specifications that are usually reserved for more expensive cameras.

These include:
  • New 16.2-megapixel DX-format (APS-C) CMOS image sensor
  • Nikon F-mount
  • Weather and Dust resistant magnesium-alloy body
  • Impressive Low-light capabilities, with sensitivity settings from ISO 100 - 25.600 (when expanded)
  • High quality pentaprism OVF
  • 3.0-inch LCD screen with 921,000 dots of resolution
  • New 39-point AF system
  • 3D AF Tracking
  • AVCHD (H.264) Full HD (1920x1080) video at 24p or 720p (1280x720) video at 24 or 30fps
  • Continuous capture at up to 6fps
  • 2,016-pixel RGB 3D Matrix Metering sensor
  • SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot, Eye-Fi compliant
  • Powerful EN-EL15 battery, provides up to 1050 frames per charge
  • Price tag of $1199.95 US for the body only kit, or $1499.95 equipped with the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens
  • Should be available in mid-October, 2010
