Nikon Releases Dedicated 3D LUT for N-Log Feature on Z 7 & Z 6 Cameras

Nikon has announced the addition of a dedicated LUT (lookup table) for N-Log on its Z 7 and Z 6 cameras. In addition, the company also revealed more details for its upcoming RAW video output update.

The free dedicated LUT update works with the camera's N-Log 10-bit HDMI output feature and is compatible with the Rec. 709 color space. The 3D LUT is designed to give users more post-production control via a preset of RGB color values that can be used to change the look of video recordings during color grading, along with adjustments to image brightness, saturation, and hue.

Meanwhile, Nikon is also prepping RAW video output support for the Z 6 and Z 7 via an update set to arrive later this year. The feature will enable users to record video in the ProRes RAW format when the camera is connected to an ATOMOS Ninja V 4K HDR monitor/recorder, offering enhanced post-production flexibility and color grading versatility. With that said, the update will not be free, and will instead require an internal upgrade to the camera which must be carried out at a Nikon service center for an additional fee.

An exact release date and price for the RAW video output update have not been announced yet.
