New Digicam Chipsets Coming - 2MPixel Cameras for By Mid-1999?

One article in EE Times has Cirrus Logic partnering up with Polaroid and IBM to produce higher-resolution and lower-cost digicams during 1999.

The same article points out that the worldwide market for digital still cameras will reach .4 billion by 2002. One analyst said that for the industry to achieve a compound growth of 42% by 2002 the price of a megapixel camera must hit or less.

It should be an interesting year in the evolution of digicams!
