National Geographic Films a Cheetah Running at 1,200 Frames per Second

Cheetahs are fascinating creatures with a great many interesting aspects, not the least of which is their ability to run faster than any other creature on earth.  Thanks to collaboration with an action movie crew from Hollywood, National Geographic was able to capture video of a cheetah running full speed.


Amazing, right? The crew utilized a Phantom slow-motion camera capable of recording at speed up to 1,200fps.  The end result is breathtaking.  It's also a bit surprising just how much time cheetahs spend airborne while running - it almost looks like a series of rabbit-like jumps. And here's how they did it:
