Good news for LUMIX G Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera owners. Panasonic just announced the LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 8-18mm f2.8-4.0 ASPH. lens (Model Number H-E08018).

With a 16-36mm equivalent zoom range and a max aperture of f2.0 (at 8mm) to f4.0 (at 18mm), this is the second lens in the LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT F2.8-4.0 Series. Dust-proof, splash-proof, and freeze-proof down to -10 degrees C, this 8-18mm lens has been designed for both video and still recording in mind; the inner focus drive and micro-step drive systems help the lens silently adjust focus and handle brightness changes without disturbing your videos.

"Comprised of 15 elements in 10 groups, the lens system features an aspherical ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens, three aspherical lenses, two ED lenses and an UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. The use of these lenses effectively suppresses spherical distortion or chromatic aberration to achieve high resolution and contrast from center to corners." There's also "Nano Surface Coating technology to minimize ghosting and flaring." And with a max 240fps sensor drive, you can take advantage of any cameras that feature Contrast AF.

The Panasonic LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 8-18mm f2.8-4.0 ASPH Lens (Model Number H-E08018) will be available at the end of May (2017) in metallic black with a $1099.99 MSRP.
