Lomography Announces New Petzval 55mm f/1.7 MKII Lens for Sony E, Canon RF, and Nikon Z Mounts

Lomography has detailed its first Petzval lens model for full frame mirrorless cameras, the Petzval 55mm f/1.7 MKII. Versions will be available for Sony E, Canon RF, and Nikon Z mounts in brass, black brass, and black aluminum.

The Petzval 55mm f/1.7 MKII is an Art Lens designed to offer unique bokeh effects for still photography and videography. The device evokes the external aesthetic of Joseph Petzval's 180 year old original lens and features an 8-blade diaphragm aperture system with a stepless control knob (aperture ring on the aluminum model). In addition, the unit houses a waterhouse aperture system on top, enabling users to adjust the bokeh effect with unique shape plates.

Here's a full rundown of key specs per Lomography:
  • Aperture: Dual Aperture System
  • Available Apertures: Eight-blade Diaphragm Aperture f/1.7 - f/22m, Waterhouse Special Aperture Plates - Sun, Snowflake, Star & Heart
  • Focal Length: 55 mm
  • Materials: Brass or Aluminum
The Petzval 55mm f/1.7 MKII is now available for pre-order from the Lomography store in Black Aluminum ($399), Brass ($449), and Black Brass ($499) for the Sony E, Canon RF, and Nikon Z mounts. Shipments are expected to go out in July/August.
