LG Announces a Smartphone That Takes 3D Pictures and Videos
Cell phones aren't exactly top of the
line when it comes to picture quality. In fact, phone cameras are
some of the worst around. Still, LG's new smartphone might appeal to
photography buffs. It's not because the camera functionality is
high-quality, but because its unique. The LG Optimus 3D is the first smartphone to pack such a wide variety of 3D features. Not only does it boast a 4.3 inch touchcreen that can show 3D movies that you can view without glasses, but it allows you to create your own 3D content as well.
The Optimus 3D has a 5 megapixel dual lens camera and is capable of recording video at resolutions of up to 1080p. If you go 3D, you'll be able to record in 720p - less, but still high-definition. You can even output video directly to your TV through the built-in HDMI 1.4 connection. Other features include a dual-core 1GHz processor with "Tri-Dual" architecture, and Google's powerful Android operating system. While a very impressive phone, this one won't hit state side until later in the year, with a UK roll out planned for sometime in the second quarter of this year (2011).
