Lexar Will Support XQD Memory Cards by Q3 2012

Lexar-logo-2012.gifMemory card speed and capacity is ever increasing, and nowhere is that more clear than in the XQD format. These cards already boast transfer speeds of up to 2.5Gb a second and can potentially reach double that in the future.

Lexar sees that future and is going to be offering XQD cards of its own starting in the fall of 2012 - not too far away now. The company says that this new specification is perfect for those storing high-quality images, 3D content or HD video.

"We are committed to offering innovative and industry-leading photography solutions, which is why we're working with Nikon to offer and co-market XQD memory cards," says product and technology VP Wes Brewer. "This collaboration provides assured compatibility with Lexar XQD memory cards and Nikon D4 and makes this technology available to the entire photo industry."
