Lenovo Mirage VR Camera is Finally Coming on May 4th

Lenovo's long-awaited Mirage VR 180 camera is finally coming out, and it could be a game changer. You might be thinking VR has been out for a while, and that's true. It's also true that most 360 VR systems are very expensive and come with complicated stitching algorithms that are too complicated for the average consumer.

The Lenovo Mirage, however, is far from complicated. It starts with its format. It only sees 180 degrees which is a close approximation of what the human eye sees. This prevents motion sickness and constantly spinning around trying to find the action. It's all in front of you like an old-fashioned Cinerama dome and for only $299 bucks.

Lenovo has taken note of how people use cameras today. If it's not intuitive and doesn't easily connect to the world, no one is going to buy it. The Mirage has connectivity in spades. This camera was designed with simplicity in mind. They say it's as easy to use as taking a video or photo on your phone; you just hold it up in front of what you want to capture and push the button. You can also pair it with your smartphone through Wi-Fi and Google's VR180 app and use it as a viewfinder or to live stream your footage around the world in 4K, 1440p, or 1080p using integrated Google Photos or Youtube. Think of all the times someone couldn't make a family event. Let them watch it live, so it's like they're there with you.

But what if you don't own a fancy computer? It's not necessary anymore to enjoy the precious VR experiences that you create. You can watch all the VR content you create on the upcoming Mirage Solo with Daydream. That's sold separately and won't arrive until May 2018, but it's nice to know it's there if you're getting a Mirage.
