Leica has detailed its latest L-Mount lens. The new APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f/2 ASPH. is set to start shipping in April for an MSRP of $4,595.

The APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f/2 ASPH is a wide-angle prime lens compatible with full-frame L-mount mirrorless cameras from Leica, Sigma, and Panasonic. Thanks to its bright f/2 maximum aperture, the lens is well-suited for use in difficult lighting conditions while also offering expansive depth of field control. The unit's optical design features 13 elements in 11 groups -- including five aspherical elements -- with anomalous partial dispersion glass to reduce color fringing, chromatic aberrations, and spherical aberrations. Likewise, the lens utilizes multi-layer coatings to minimize surface reflections, flare, and ghosting. In addition, the device implements a Dual Syncro Drive stepping motor for fast and quiet autofocus performance.

Here's a full rundown of key specs per Leica and B&H Photo-Video:

• L-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
• Aperture Range: f/2 to f/22
• Five Aspherical Elements
• Multi-Layer and AquaDura Coatings
