Leica Details M10-D Digital Rangefinder Camera

LEICA M10-D_front.jpgLeica has announced the launch of its latest digital rangefinder camera model. The new M10-D serves as the successor to the previously released M-D camera.

Designed with a "digital heart and an analog soul," the camera hopes to capitalize on the benefits of a digital M camera without losing the unique aspects of an analog photographic experience. Focused more on the actual act of taking pictures rather than an abundance of features and functions, the unit does not include a rear display, and instead offers a mechanical on/off switch with dedicated Wi-Fi shortcut and a dial for direct exposure compensation control in its place. The old-school analog aesthetic is further complemented by an integrated fold-out thumb rest, minimal controls, and a quiet shutter.

Of course, despite the camera's throw-back design, the unit still features several decidedly modern flourishes, including Wi-Fi connectivity and the ability to pair with the new Leica FOTOS app. With the FOTOS app, users can transfer pictures to iOS and Android devices for sharing, select core camera settings, and even use a mobile device as a remote viewfinder and camera shutter in live view mode.LEICA M10-D_back.jpgHere's a full rundown of key specs and features per Leica via B&H:
