Leica Announces Q2 Full Frame Compact Camera


Leica has revealed its latest Q series compact camera model, the Q2. Pre-orders are now live via B&H Photo-Video for an MSRP of $4,995.

Suitable for street, architectural, landscape, and portrait photography, the compact point-and-shoot camera features a 47.3 megapixel full frame CMOS sensor and Maestro II image processor with support for an ISO range of 50-50,000. In addition, the device incorporates a wide-angle Leica Summilux 28 mm f/1.7 ASPH. fixed prime lens and a fast 49-area autofocus system. A digital zoom option is offered as well, enabling special Crop Modes to simulate 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm field of views.

Meanwhile, when it comes to video, the camera is capable of DCI 4K recording at 24 fps and UHD 4K at 30 fps, along with full HD recording support at 120, 60, 30, or 24 frames per second. Finally, the unit includes a high-resolution 3.68 megapixel OLED viewfinder and a rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD.
