Leica Releases V-Lux 5 Digital Camera

Leica has announced the launch of its latest digital camera model, the Leica V-Lux 5. Pre-orders are now live via B&H Photo-Video for an MSRP of $1,250.

The V-Lux 5 features a 20-megapixel, 1-inch CMOS sensor, along with a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 9.1–146 mm f/2.8–4 ASPH. zoom lens (equivalent to 25 to 400 mm in 35 mm film format) with a wide-angle to super-telephoto range. Likewise, the device offers a maximum sensitivity of ISO 12800 and integrated optical image stabilization for shake-free capture in lower light conditions. And when it comes to video recording, the camera is capable of 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second or full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) at 60 frames per second.

In addition, the V-Lux 5 supports a full resolution burst rate of up to 12 fps and a 30 fps 4K Burst Mode, along with Post Focusing, Focus Stacking, and Face Recognition features. Meanwhile, a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.0" 1.24m-dot articulating touchscreen LCD are integrated as well. Finally, the camera is also compatible with the Leica FOTOS App, enabling users to change settings, remotely control the unit, and transfer media all via Bluetooth connection to a mobile device.
