Leica Launches Pre-Orders for APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH. Lens

Leica has announced pricing for its latest lens model, the APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH. Lens. Pre-orders are now live via B&H Photo-Video for $4,495.

The APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH. is a normal-length prime lens designed for full-frame L-mount mirrorless cameras with a bright f/2 maximum aperture for better performance in low light environments. The unit's optical construction consists of 12 lenses in 10 groups, including three aspherical elements to help minimize distortion and spherical aberrations. In addition, multi-layer coatings and a water-repellent AquaDura coating have been employed to reduce reflections, flare, and ghosting, as well as protect against various elements. Likewise, the lens utilizes a weather-sealed design for further protection from dust and moisture.

And when it comes to autofocus performance, the lens utilizes a Dual Syncro Drive stepping motor for quick, precise, and quiet operation during photo capture and video recording. Meanwhile, a full-time manual focus override option is offered as well.
