Leica Announces New 5-Megapixel Digilux 2

Leica Camera AG, Solms, today announced the LEICA DIGILUX 2 with its fast LEICA DC VARIO- SUMMICRON 7-22.5mm (28 - 90mm in 35mm equivalent) f/2.0-2.4 aspherical zoom lens. It has a 2/3-inch CCD image sensor with a resolution of five million pixels. Each individual pixel has a size of 3.4µm, these larger pixels register the light more quickly and accurately. The combination of these larger pixels, the large area 2/3-inch CCD and the high quality Leica lens leads to extremely high picture quality. The DIGILUX 2 has a large and bright 2.5- inch color LCD monitor and comes with a 64 MB SD memory card. included with the camera

The DIGILUX 2's controls are based on traditional analog cameras, with focus, zoom and aperture settings being made by rings on the lens barrel and a shutter speed dial on the top of the body. The camera features a very short shutter release delay that makes it well suited to capture fast-moving action subjects and spontaneous shots.
