JVC Announces a 4K2K Consumer Camcorder

The issue of what comes first in the electronics industry is a bit of an issue.  Instead of the chicken or the egg it's an issue of displays and content.  Still, the new camcorder from JVC sounds very exciting.

The camcorder hasn't been named yet, but the specs are amazing.  It can handle HD recording and 3D recording, but that's not the exciting part - JVC's camera will be able to record at a 4K2K resolution.  4K2K, if you're not familiar, is four times the resolution of current 1080p televisions.  it's the kind of resolution you get at brand new and well equipped movie theaters.
It's not just for movies either.  The JVC camera will be able to take 8.3 megapixel photos at a rate of 60fps.  That's fast enough to suit anyone's needs.

JVC's announcement is an exciting one, and since the company specifies that this will be a consumer level camcorder, it's expected that the price will be consumer level as well.  It's not going to be cheap of course, but it likely won't cost as much as professional gear.
