The following was recv'd from one of the people involved in the Digital Camera Committee of the Japan Camera Industry Association (JCIA), he wished to remain anonymous and we'll respect that request.
- "I think you are aware of JCIA catalog guideline which was published in spring this year. They revised the guideline to include 3CCD cameras in summer. Unfortunately traditional medias misunderstand the guideline without reading original document in Japanese. This week, JCIA prepared English document of the guideline in the following. Their intent to stop bad custom to describe total pixels of CCD including optical black area and stop interpolated number of pixels in Honeycom CCD and other technology.
The new guideline recommends to use effective pixels used for picture generation to describe camera performance."
