Is Olympus Launching a New OM-D Camera This Month?

Olympus has unveiled a mysterious teaser video. Based on our experience with Nikon's In Pursuit of Light videos from last fall, which were made for the launch of the Nikon Z7 and Nikon Z6, it appears Olympus may announce and/or launch a new OM-D series camera later this month. You can watch the full video below, but here's let's break down what we're seeing:
  • The 300mm F4 and 40-150mm F2.8 PRO telephoto lenses
  • A football stadium
  • An Olympics-sized pool with water polo
  • A beach volleyball court
  • A few shots and a silhouette of a camera body that looks taller than the current generation OM-D E-M1 Mark II
  • The date: January 24, 2019
  • The OM-D logo
What exactly is coming or will be announced on the 24th of January? Well, if you follow Olympus or Micro FourThirds rumors sites, you probably have a pretty good idea. Since we don't traffic in rumors, let's just say it looks like Olympus is cooking up a new OM-D camera for sports and action photography.
