Is Tamron About to Release an F2.8 Telephoto Zoom & Three F1.8 Primes Lenses for the Sony E-Mount?

Tamron recently released this mysterious teaser video clearly aimed at Sony e-mount mirrorless camera shooters and we think we know what they're cooking up:

Next to the 17-28mm F2.8 Di III RXD and the 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD e-mount zoom lenses, we see the outline of four new "mirrorless" lenses. Looks to me like one zoom and three primes. Given Tamron's current lens lineup for Canon and Nikon cameras, I think this means Sony shooters are about to get a 70-200mm F2.8 (or maybe a 75-210mm F2.8) telephoto zoom along with a 35mm F1.8, a 45mm or 50mm F1.8, and an 85mm F1.8 prime lens.

We can only guess at the specifics, of course, but given Tamron's history making lenses (and making Sony lenses, in particular), this is terribly exciting news. In our testing, Tamron glass delivers a ton of performance and value for the e-mount systems. Yes, the G Master glass is still superior, but Tamron F2.8 zooms retail for under $900 while their F1.8 primes are even more affordable. In other words, for the price of one G Master Sony lens, you can (almost) buy three Tamron lenses to complete your kit.

Stay tuned for more details!
