Irix has launched pre-orders for its latest lens. The company's new 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 "Dragonfly" Lens is set to start shipping by December 26 for an MSRP of $595.

The 150mm medium telephoto lens is geared toward close-up shooting and offers true 1:1 macro reproduction and a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture for optimal low-light performance and greater control over depth of field. Likewise, the unit is the first Irix lens to utilize the company's new Dragonfly housing with extensive weather sealing to protect the device from dust and moisture. In addition, the lens features a 12 element, nine group optical design with a Neutrino coating to help improve contrast and color accuracy through the reduction of lens flare and ghosting. Finally, the unit incorporates a rounded 11-blade diaphragm to help produce a nice bokeh quality.

Mount options for the Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 "Dragonfly" Lens include Canon EF, Nikon F, and Pentax K.
