Instagram Changes Terms of Service in Response to User Outrage

A few days ago Instagram made a change to their Terms of Service that essentially gave the company permission to sell your photos off to whoever they pleased. Once users caught wind of this, the internet erupted. As companies often do when all of their customers are yelling at them simultaneously, Facebook and Instagram were quick to respond.

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom says that selling the photos of its users was never intended, instead saying that the change was "to communicate that we'd like to experiment with innovative advertising that feels appropriate on Instagram."

"To be clear," he adds, "it is not our intention to sell your photos. We are working on updated language in the terms to make sure this is clear."
