Insta360 has announced the EVO -- a unique foldable camera with support for shooting 180-degree 3D and 360-degree 2D videos. The EVO is now available for pre-order for $419.99.

Designed to shoot VR videos for playback on a variety of headsets, the EVO features a quick-folding body that enables users to switch between two different shooting modes: 360-degree 2D video and 180-degree 3D video. In both modes, the camera is capable of up to 5.7K video capture and 18 MP photo capture, along with HDR video and photo capabilities. In addition, the EVO supports the company's new Insta360 VR app, allowing customers to wirelessly connect the unit to an Oculus Go, HTC VIVE Focus, or Samsung Gear VR for instant playback.

And for users who still want to experience 3D videos from the camera without a headset, Insta360 has also launched the HoloFrame. The device is designed to pop over a smartphone display, adding glasses-free 3D playback from the EVO app. The HoloFrame is now available separately from the EVO for an MSRP of $29.99 for iPhone X, XS, XS Max and XR. Versions for the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, S9, S9+ and Note 8 are also in the works.
