HP's ZR30w S-IPS LCD Can Handle Over a Billion Colors

When you're editing photos, one of the most important things - and one of the most overlooked - is your monitor.  Just because you've got a decent LCD screen doesn't mean you're getting the kind of color accuracy you need.  All monitors are not created equal, after all.

And the ZR30w S-IPS LCD is a prime example of that.  Instead of the 16.7 million colors that most LCDs can handle, the ZR30w can display up to 1.07 billion colors.  It covers 100 percent of sRGB and 99 percent of Adobe RGB.  Essentially, if the color exists, the ZR30w can display it.

It's a 30 inch monitor in a 16:10 aspect ratio and with an impressive 2560 x 1600 resolution.  It's also got a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, which is a nice step up over traditional LCD monitors.

Of course, with the ZR30w's substantial capabilities comes a substantial price tag.  They're available today, but you'll have to shell out $1,299 to snag one.
